Former WWE professional-wrestling superstar Dave Batista has left bright lights of the wrestling world and is looking to follow in the footsteps of former pro-wrestlers Brock Lesnar & Bobby Lashley and make the transition over to the world of MMA. It has recently been reported that Batista has been training at Cesar Gracie’s camp with Gracie & the Diaz brothers. Batista is also apparently in contact with Strikeforce with regards to them booking him on a future show.

There is no doubt that Batista is an incredible athlete and obviously possesses a lot of power, but at the age of 41 and with lack of a martial arts background (apparently he wrestled at a low level when he was younger, and also took part in some low level kickboxing) it is hard to see how Batista can replicate the success of Brock Lesnar (who was a decorated amateur wrestler) or even that of Bobby Lashley (who himself had a high level amateur-wrestling background). Unfortunately I can see Batista getting a few fights in Strikeforce and depending how he fares, his crowning achievement in  MMA may be a fight with Bobby Lashley or Herschel Walker.
